getting disc sander to exact 90 degrees

Take 2 pieces of scrap 3 or 4" long,book them together standing vertical and sand the ends, butt the sanded ends together and you will see twice the amount you are off, adjust till you have no gap, and you have exactly 90 degrees, same goes for setting up saws also.
