My inspiration comes from several sources.  Certainly, Carl Jacobson (HaydenHD) and Eddie Castelin (editing out the hokie "Watch!!!" bits to get to the meat) are the two 'go to' guys on YouTube for my wood turning projects .  I also rely quite a bit on Wood Working for Mere Mortals' for project ideas (cutting board was really cool).  I also, as others do, take inspiration from my surroundings.  I now look at things differently when I am shopping or visiting -- 'Hey, I think I can make that!' has become a new mantra for me. ;)  Oh, and thanks to my brother-in-law (an organ builder and carpenter extraordinaire) for suggesting this hobby as a way to make my retirement more productive.

Woodworking Jigs / Re: Lathe Steady

I've seen lots of homemade and commercial steady rests but none, until now, that would merit the term Work of Art!  Simply awesome.  Looks loke it would outperfom the $150.00 one I bought recently  >:(

Michael,

What brand is the epoxy and where can one buy it?  I'd love to turn some useful bowls and cups with an exciting finish but am always concerned about harsh chemicals and the whole food-safe thing.
